On Friday 12th May, The Retirement Café took off with it’s first free event on the topic of care at the Kings Arms Hotel in Christchurch.
I was joined by an expert in retirement financial solutions, manager of a local care home and manager of an in-home care agency to discuss your questions about finding and funding care in later life. We were delighted to welcome over a dozen guests, who enjoyed fresh coffee and home made cake during a two hour question and answer session with the panel.
Graham Duffy, Care Specialist at Just, one of the leading providers of retirement solutions such as care annuities, shared his 25 year’s experience of care annuities and options for funding care, providing advice based upon real life case studies. His knowledge was particularly useful when it came to guests’ questions about specific circumstances.
Our two guests who have worked for many years in the care profession; Debi Phelan-Bainbridge who is currently manager of Ocean Breeze Residential Care Home in Barton on Sea and Kerry Mason who is Manager of MyLife Living Assistance – leading provider of in-home care, talked about the realities of providing care to families who need care today. They highlighted things to consider if you are planning care for a loved one.
The next Retirement Cafe event will be held in June and we are keen to receive feedback on which topics you feel would be most beneficial to you. Please click here if you would like to answer one simple question and help us make the next Retirement Cafe as successful as the first.
