I was recently staying with friends in Ogmore-by-Sea in their stunning five bedroom, three bathroom holiday home which boasts uninterrupted sea views and glorious beaches on their doorstep. George grew up here and has bought this place for him and his wife’s future retirement home. At the moment he enjoys spending time here at weekends while his wife, Sarah, manages to get down for five days a week.
Discovering that they bought this 214m² house for £440,000 made me wonder what a similar sized home would cost in Mudeford, and across the UK. The Telegraph have mapped out where your money goes furthest in Britain’s housing market here.
Lifestyle choice and where you decide to live is so important in your retirement, and of course money tied up in property can’t be accessed for income in retirement unless you go down the equity release route.
George and Sarah currently live in the Worcester where George runs a successful law practice and their home here in Ogmore-by-Sea allows him to regularly enjoy the surfing and water sports. With two 20-something daughters both dating Welsh men, I have a feeling this may also have something to do with the location choice!
