As you know, in 2012 MFP Wealth Management became the first financial planning firm to become certified to the new British Standard for financial planning and advisory firms, BS 8577. At the same time I became certified to the British and International Standard for personal financial planners, ISO 22222.
I have experienced first hand what a positive impact attaining these accreditations can have upon the rigour of a business’s systems and processes, and ultimately the client experience. So I was keen to say ‘yes’ when asked to help further develop these two British Standards.
The request came from Standards International, the leading certification body in Financial Services for certification services to ISO 22222 and BS 8577. The team asked selected professionals with an in-depth knowledge of, and passion for, the financial services marketplace to become members of their ‘Certification Scheme and Impartiality Committee’.
I passionately believe that great financial planning can have a huge impact upon people’s lives. That’s probably the reason I was selected, as one of the key objectives of the committee is to ultimately raise the professional standard of financial advice and planning in the UK.
Now that’s a challenge I’m up for!
